One log didn't seem to be enough, so we hauled in a branch of an old fallen apple tree. Hopefully, the two together will be stable enough to provide the three turtles with safe sunning habitat.
Western Pond Turtle Day Spa |
In actuality, takes the whole morning. But feels good to have it done.
Next thing on the list: Blackberry Ketchup. The recipe is linked.
So yummy!
Nice work! Did you have the turtles imported via ODFW, or were they already there?
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog....howdy, neighbor!
Hi Rich,
DeleteGlad you found the blog!
We saw the turtles a few months back. Since then have sent messages and phone calls to ODFW in case they are interested. So far no response. Would love to have some help getting rid of the bull frogs that eat baby turtles, or finding turtle eggs so that they could be protected. If you have a specific ODFW contact that might be helpful, pass it on. In the meantime, stop by some mid-morning to see the turtles sunbathing on the banks of the pond.
Do you have turtles at your place?
Haha...you need to have water to have turtles. We're restoring the creek, and it's still trickling, which is an improvement over the past, but I don't see turtles hanging out here for quite some time.
DeleteI don't have a specific ODFW person offhand...I know they're busy this time of year, and there's a turtle recovery / breeding program at the Zoo, I think. I'll dig a little and see what I come up with.
